Offering private access to its own sandy beach, Valtur Baia del Gusmay Beach Resort is composed of 2 buildings 400 metres from each other, and immersed in greenery inside the Gargano National Park, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Dirty, infested with wasps and nobody speaks english

The beach was clean and waves in the sea were nice.

Definitely not a 5-star hotel, just because they have bought a pool doesn't make them 5-star in reality. It is a mediocre 3-star hotel at best. Getting breakfast was extremely frustrating because nobody speaks english, they just keep ignoring you and saying that you should wait and then they just walk away. Breakfast itself was cold. Distance from the hotel to the beach and breakfast is very far, they don't drive you there, you have to walk about 10 minutes (you have to cross the road as well) every morning and every time you want to swim in the sea. The shower in the room was awful, drain didn't work, so our bathroom was constantly flooded every time we took a shower. To close the hotel doors you have to bang them with force, otherwise they don't lock. Felt more like a cheap motel than a 5-star facility. The person who took our luggage up to the room was very aggressive with the luggage, almost broke the handle and the wheels. There are a lot of wasps flying around in the beach bar, so you can't really enjoy cocktails or eat there. Staff doesn't seem to care. The most frustrating thing is that nobody understand a single word in English (except for the reception lady) - we ordered two cocktails from the english menu, but they brought us a tuna sandwich instead.. and it takes them about 15 minutes to make a single cocktail even when we were the only persons there. The walls in the hotel feels like they are made from paper, we could hear people in the next room relieving themselves in the toilet, not just the flush of the water, but every single thing they did there. Felt disgusting. Also, they expect you to put a towel under your sunbed, but they don't give you any towels, except for the ones in your room that are for showering. Do not book this hotel, you will have a bad time and wasted a lot of money.

Enjoyable stay

Breakfast was very good with real espresso coffee, beach was lovely with 2 complementary sunbeds and umbrella, Spa is small but enjoyable all the same, nice garden, kind staff but some inexperienced

The room and bathroom were not eventi close to a 5 star hotel, the pool wasn't cleen, quite a walk to go to the beach thankfully there's an electric car connecting the hotel although not regularly, over all the place needs some maintenance.

Beautiful Resort in a Private Bay

Everything besides the given downsides was brilliant. Especially the beach, the dinner and the beatiful buildings and resort area.

The desserts and cakes at the dinner were a bit heavy on alcohol. Not suitable for children and even for adults they had a very bitter on alcohol taste. The resort is in a silent bay and street noise is mostly not present. Unfortunately the gardeners piaggio-transporter sounds like a Harley-Davidson and its way is all around the resort especially in the morning. To exchange this to an electric golf cart with a similar load area would be a simple solution. There were lots of them golf carts around at the resort. Only two of all employers we met spoke acceptable english. To coach the employers into the basics of the english language is essential in the future. The rooms do not have wifi access, only the hotel lobby.

Not apt to be a five star property

The pool was big and clean. The rooms were clean.

Firstly, they have called themselves a five star hotel, other, than the property being huge, it wasn't apt for a five star rating like you would find in other places. When we arrived at the hotel, we were shown a parking at a further distance inspite of the main parking near reception had a lot of empty parking spaces . No bell boy or help at the five star hotel. So you drag your bags. One lift, which was ridiculously operating across floors. The breakfast didn't have a huge spread, like we would expect from a hotel equal to this. The cake section and coffee was good. The AC was leaking in the room. They give you an umbrella number during check in which you are to use at the beach. It was a very hot sunny plus windy day so the umbrellas weren't open( which we quite understood the reason) so we went to the the Cabana tent as we didn't want the sun on our faces and bodies. The attendant asked us to move saying it's reserved only for suite people. We were ok with that and moved towards the umbrella section, the entire place was empty except for 2 more older couples who were enjoying the tan again the attendant comes and asks to move away to our number which was right at the back plus too much sun. We were irritated by the behavior since the beach was empty and no umbrellas occupied. Went on to talk at the reception sadly, they just say sorry and when you turn your back they laugh. The golf cart should be available at all times, but it wasn't the case. Receptionists looked like fresh graduates not capable of answering queries except for saying 'sorry' and 'I understand' Overall, a very sad stay. I generally, do not write such reviews but after staying at so many wonderful properties across the world, this was truly a turn down.

NOT a 5 star Resort

The bed was comfortable and the beach set up worked very well. While the majority of the staff was rude, inattentive and inhospitable, there was one staff member who was very attentive and apologetic for her colleagues rudeness and mistakes.

Sadly the staff was very rude and inhospitable. Although it is advertised that there are four restaurants on the premises, only one is open and it's a buffet.... The buffet dinner is overpriced for what it is (€35pp), and twice during our dinner the staff stripped our table while we were at the buffet, (including drinks we purchased), and gave attitude when we asked why and suggested that we leave a wallet on the table when leaving.... which is absurd. Although it is advertised as a pet friendly hotel (supplement charge €15pn), the pets are not allowed in any of the public areas. The room was very basic, it was lacking amenities and was full of bugs and mosquitoes. There was no information pamphlets in the room, no do not disturb sign. The reception staff was uninformed of the resort activities and did not speak English. Additionally, there is absolutely no WiFi connection through the resort.
